There was no "World Domination" 4 KOTD this year.
KOTD opted to skip the biggest event of the year to focus on a few things
(fast forward to "Flatline 3")
A pretty good card marred by minor issues.
Its unfortunate that most of KOTD mega events in 2014 have a pattern of cancellations.
The matchups @ this year "Flatline" are interesting IMO.
With a mixture of high and low profile encounters.
KOTD latest event has all bases covered.

As in life there are GOOD times
There are BAD times
With the main event looking like giant a stuntman of Marty Mcfly (no Knamelis) vs Django.
Shit was bound to get UGLY......................

THE GOOD

-SHOUT OUTS
-Props to Organick , Gully , Bishop B , La Sparka, Avocado and the entire organization @ KOTD for pulling off a decent event.
-Every battlerapper in the building and on the Card.
-The entire land mass that is Canada
-James Roosevelt and 100 bars magazine
-Salutes to DDotOmen.com & Exenexex
-Every poster on OTBVA.com

-BACK TO OFFERING THE ALTERNATIVE.
Besides the co promotion for the Teddy Grizzle event.
KOTD has kept a low profile since "V2R".
Sure they threw a few minor events in Canada (yet there was a huge gap between megaevents for KOTD) All of this means nothing now that KOTD is back to offer up some alternative battlerap 2 the masses

-TAXING RAW
Shouts out 2 Tycoon Tax for having a pretty GOOD consistent showing against Rosenburg Raww (crowd or no crowd he deserves his due)

-TEZ IN THE NORTH
Despite the hiccup (that Tax battle)
Cortez is a pretty formidable foe in KOTD
His string of GOOD performances against former champs/top tiers should garner some type of respect ? (right) lol

-REMACTH ON LESS THAN A DAY NOTICE!
Special props to Rone & DNA for going @ it on 2 hours notice (if I heard right)
Thats extremely rare these days and should be commended IMO.

-RONE's PLIGHT
(speaking of Rone)
Gotta tip ur hat to that man.
Not only does his URL battle gets vaulted.
Rone constantly faces no shows/cancellations from names like Eness,Remy, JC and now Uno (no matter the issue Rone is on hand to perform)
Which he did here against a game DNA.

-CHARRONE ONGOING MOMENTUM
Another event and yet another great showing by Charrone.
Who keeps up that huge amount of momentum he gained from battling Bmagic,Shotgun Suge and (now) Charlie Clips.

-GOOD FLATLINE MOMENTS
Npose and Lex in a decent battle on short notice.
Chilla with a GOOD showing.
Cane material was slept on (IMO)
Day performance was top notch here , his 3rd>>
Pat doing enough to secure the title.

THE BAD

-GZ BATTLE KILLING THE CROWD
The (returning) ZM took on Flexplicit @ thie event.
The battle was moved up due 2 the changing undercard of this event.
It damm near killed the crowd and sucked all the energy from the room.

-CURVING CHARRONE
In all honesty Charrone secured his title shot more than a year ago.
It seems KOTD is more concerned with giving anybody a shot @
Pat Stay not named Charrone.
This being the 1st mega event in Canada since Blackout 4 would have been a great look (unfortunately KOTD curved Charrone in favor of Daylyt)

-REAL SHIT CAUSING FREESTYLES
Clips explaining throughout a 3 round loss of going thru real shit.
Which led to him fresstyling the entire battle.

-URL LIKE SYMPTONS
(Not the good type either)
The event was filled with minor audio issues that disrupted the rounds of Rosenburg Raww, Chilla , and pretty much made Dialect accent sound unlistenable.

-THE PATTERN
Yeah the battle between Bulletz and Rum was not the most anticipated of the evening.
Like most mega KOTD events dealing with American talent , a host of issues prevented a number of performers not 2 attend.
Ooops and Rum nitty was held up due 2 passport issues.
While border issues prevented Lottazay from attending.

THE UGLY

-UNO's WEATHER FORECAST
Which called for missing the event due to extreme weather conditions.
While it is true the northern part of the country is getting hit with some major snow (just knowing UNO vs Rone is a no go is UGLY as fuck)

-BATTLERAP IN THE AM
Reports of the event starting @ 10pm are crazy.
KOTD gets the nod for introducing late night Battlerap 2 the fold.
Main event finally starting around 2am.

-DETONATING THE BOMB GIRDLE
Some things are best not replicated IMO.
The rematch itself was fine between Rone and DNA.
What was UGLY was DNA replicating the actual bomb prop which made the 1st battle memorable.
The unflattering image left DNA looking like he had a makeshift girdle on.

-SHITTING TO SLAVEAWAY
Funny what taking a mock shit can do for u these days.
While I understand the great showings against Clips and Chilla.
(that by no means warranted this title shot)
KOTD was smart on banking on Day making this memorable.
The pro black scheme centered around KOTD was smart but 2 integrate a prop in a statement during a title match is a reach. Add in the recycled stuff and a Pat (who would have lost) had Day put more focus on actually getting the chain.
Makes u wonder if Day is really a slave of his own antics.............

Summer Maddness will always be the Wrestlemania of Battlerap.
It's the event where every battle has and should be a high profile 1.
This year entry is similar to the 1st ever Summer Maddness.
No theme needed here as the URL structured a bar heavy event with names that should draw fans from ever region.
This year "Summer Maddness" also came with appetizers that dominated the last weekend of September.
"Summer Maddness 4" continues the longstanding tradition of pairing big names and ending comparisons.
Conceited vs Bmagic is a great example of that type of thinking.
Like the previous 3 b4 it "Summer Maddness 4" is plague with a few questions. In any case the URL dominates the start of the fall with what should have been named autumm maddness..........

As in life there are GOOD times
There are BAD times
With both Conceited and Magic sharing 1 mic , shit was bound to get UGLY.............

THE GOOD

SHOUT OUTS
-Smack White, Beasly, Norbes, Chico and the entire URL organization for pulling off a great weekend.
-Every battle rapper on the card and in the building
-Cassidy and DJ Kid Capri
-The 5 boroughs of NYC
-James Roosevelt and 100 bars Magazine
-Nettie Mcfly,Drect and Critic
-OTBVA.com and all the other Battlerap related sites.

-WARMING UP THE MADDNESS
This year's SM featured a bar heavy 3day weekend.
The rookies taking day 1 , while the established blessed the "Warm up" and "Summer maddness" cards during Day 2& 3.
Special shouts 2 Charrone, UNO, Shotgun Suge and Head Ice for their GOOD performances the night earlier.

-WELCOME TO THE PUNCHING ACADEMY
GOOD encounter between both of battle raps premiere punchers.
Conceited punchlines style represents the past
B Magic's style represents the presents
GOOD way to see both the old way and new way of punching @ the same time

-RETURNING TO OLD FORM
Hitman Holla with the tank top and the rope chain was a GOOD look

-HITMAN SURFING
(speaking of that battle)
Surf was on his A game in his battle.
After a monstrous 1st by Hitman, Surf began to go in2 overdrive in the 2nd and 3rd. It was good to see Surf surged back when most thought it was over after that 1st round.

- POSTPONING THE TRIP TO THE RETIRMENT HOME
JJDD main objective was to prove to the world that Verb needs to retire.
That failed cause Verb proved to have more in the tank then previously thought. Hate him or love him , Verb's will still RIDE UP!

-R.O.C
Roc's complete domination of DNA was impressive.

Props to DNA but ROC could not be stopped on this night.

-HARLEM KNIGHTS
Salutes to Rex for battling through a tragedy, but Clips was a monster this battle (He literally turned Irving plaza in2 a museum)
That Venue will now always be remembered for Clips putting fossils on display.

THE BAD

-NON CLASSIC BOUTS
We had some classic rounds and performances but there was no classic battles @ SM4 IMO.

-PAYING A 100$ TO PASS OUT
During Conceited 2nd round somebody passes out near the front of the stage. Con stops and responds "that's what my bars will do " lol.
Smack jumps on the mic and is concerned.
Must suck to faint on the 1st battle of the night.

-THE FRUITY HOODIE WEARING CRYPT KEEPER.
Rex had a supporter who had shades on and a multi colored hoodie on.
This dude resembled the actual Crypt keeper from "Tales from the Crypt".
When Clips said something bout how Rex crew would run on him , this dude screamed "I ANIT GOING ANYWHERE"
(face palm)

-THE CASSIDY PLUG
Cassidy and Goodz begins to argue b4 the last battle.
Goodz grabbed the mic and challenged Casdidy to a 30 bar duel.
Cassidy responded by plugging his battle with Diz lmao

-ON REPEAT
Both Rex and DNA need to revamp their style immediately.
Both was booed right after their performances here.

THE UGLY

-SEASONAL MADDNESS
The event is titled "Summer Maddness" but it happens in the fall.
No matter the attempt to keep intact the actual name "Summer Maddness".
The seasonal lapse here is UGLY

-A ILL SITUATION
ILL WILL was advertised on this card.
Despite not being a huge name his battle was supposed to be the 6th battle.
The URL made no attempt to explain this @ the event.
(If u are like me and dont follow twitter)
U felt lost and paid top dollar for a battle that never happened SMH

-INTRO SOUND TIME
The start of Summer Maddness 4<<
Con vs Magic was held hostage by mic issues for a excruciating 15 mins.

-CUTTING UP CLIPS
Clips never got a chance to spit his closer
(Near the end he was cut off by smack)
It didn't matter tho , Rex was all bones @ that point

-2 LOADS OF DIRTY LAUNDRY
Personals are for people who want to get decked according to Clips.
Here are a 2 of the more devastating personals shared between the 2.
-Clips father being a alleged snitch
-Rex allegedly liking fingers in his ass
If that anit dirt laundry, I don't know what is........................

Highstakes and the actual name U.W is all in the past now.
Annihilation is the 1st event under the newly minted U.DUBB network.
The New Jersey league formerly known as the U.W been on the low since Highstakes.
Now that Total slaughter is over , Ars and company is back @ it with Annihilation. The actual card features alot of good matchups and with names like Arsonal, Daylyt ,Clips ,Rex and ORed.
The event titled Annihilation makes a strong case for any fan of this thing we call Battlerap.
Annihilation with all it's drama is a pretty decent serving , while we wait for (KOTD) WD5 & (URL) SM4.

As in life there are GOOD times
There are BAD times
With Rex and Ars having a heated converstion during Suge's entire 3rd round
U know shit was bound to get UGLY................

THE GOOD

SHOUT OUT
-Ars,Ray Swagz and everyone @ the U Dubb network for putting on a great event
-Every battlerapper on the Card and in the building
-Everyone @ itchy house films
-Slaughter house, Smack white, Beasly, Poison pen, Debo, the Indiana pacers and all the guest who showed up
-James Roosevelt and 100 bars Magazine
-Salutes @Exenexex
-Every poster on OTBVA and all the other Battlerap related forums.

-SOLO WITH THE 1st TECH
1st round was funny af from both
(Both was hilarious here)
This could been a GOOD 1 round battle

-DO U REMEMBER THE TIME
Kshine 3rd round Michael Jackson inspired assault on JC.
Which not only tore down the house but put the exclamation point on the W

-CHARRONE IS IN THE BIG PICTURE
This was more than a typical backpack vs Street rapper affair for Charrone.
This was his 1st crack @ being exposed to the type of fanbase that has eluded him(He held his own against B Magic)
Which is GOOD look to the people who has never heard of KOTD

THE 1 RETURNS
@ Highstakes Day was Neo from the matrix
@ this event he returned to that but without the black coat.
Once he took the blue pill , Day began to dismantle Arsonal in front of New Jersey (The personals were harsh and they sealed Arsonal fate)

-A SHOTGUN BLAST
Suge been stepping it up IMO
Had a great showing against Rosenburg Raw and now owns a default W against Rex.

THE BAD

-SOLO WITH THE 2nd&3rd TEC
What started out as a funny battle ended up being the exact type of battle many people feared (Solo rambling on , losing the crowd)
Tec saying just enough to not really get them back

-DELAYED STREAMS
The U.Dubb putting out info letting the people know that they going 2 be late on that ppv work

-ULTIMATE DEAD CROWD
Crowd was damm near on life support @ times.
Lack of reactions was astounding here.

-DEBO QUEENZFLIPPING THE COIN
Prior to the Red vs Clip encounter , Debo was up on stage.
He spoke a little and then proceeded to flip the coin.
He did it in a way which left both Clips and Red unsatisfied.
Clips told him to stick to QOTR

-UNNECESSARY EXCUSES
Clips 2nd round freestyle was good to the point , he could have actually passed it off as a round (He didn't really need to get in2 his personal life)
IMO

-THE PICTURE SHOW
Red's picture show during his 3rd round.
He managed to outdo Young ILL by printing out 2 large images
(free Young ILL)

-CHEERLEADING DOTS
1 of Shine strongest weapons in Battlerap is something most people would dismiss. I'm all 4 supporting ur homie , but fuck listening to Rex and Dan bars scream @ the top of their lungs.
Both are featured as background during Shine rounds against JC

THE UGLY

-OTROLLO
Solo must have been trolling near the end of his 3rd round.
He kept awkwardly pausing and telling Ars to calm the crowd down.
Only problem with that was that the crowd was silent
Ars responded by telling him 2 rap
He gave up not long after that

-3>1
Ars vs Day on road to slaughter was a 1 rounder
Seeing them spit another 1 rounder gave me the UGLY face.

-PERSONAL FACIAL EXPRESSION
(Speaking on Ars)
Pay attention 2 his face as them personals start 2 land.

-CAREFREE BUMBLEBEE
Rex was in there looking like a actual bumblebee and basically handed Suge the battle (We will get in2 why later)

-DONT F WITH THE U DUBB SECURITY!
During Ars round , there's a noticeable incident that happens in the crowd. Whatever occurred happened offcam but close enough that it was audible Everyone on stage immediately starts 2 pay attention.
Ars even stops rapping to acknowledge it.
U couldn't smoke @ High Stakes, the people that did was dragged out.
Yeah security don't play out there in Jersey.

-MONEY OVER ROUNDS?
We all know its truly all about the money.
That how the real world works and Battlerap is no different.
Still pretty crazy to see Rex up there refusing to battle.
Like this shit happened mid battle and looked unprofessional from every fucking angle (guess everyone will have 2 chalk that up to miscommunication)
Either way its a UGLY look 4 both Rex and the U.Dubb network for allowing this UGLY incident 2 go down.
Right in the middle of the main event battle..................

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Battlerap is anonymous to the average person in the world of hip hop.
Outside interference in Battlerap been largly nonexistent till this year.
KOTD been playing host to certain hip hop guest for a while now.
The U.R.L on the other hand was given a opportunity @ mainstream television.
On 7/12 of different type of inclusion happened.
The type that will potentially bring new found attention that Battlerap has never seen up until this point. Even if u hadn't heard of Battlerap, I'm going go ahead and assume u heard of Eminem.
The combination of Eminem status within the mainstream world.
The uncertainty of his 1st event will guarantee a memorable entrance in this thing we all call Battlerap...........

As in life there are GOOD times
There are BAD times
With Daylyt having a mental breakdown while taking a mock s*** on stage
U just knew s*** was bound to get UGLY......

THE GOOD

SHOUT OUTS
-Eminem, Paul Rosenburg, the entire Slaughter house, Sway, Ebro, and Shady house records.
-Every battlerapper on the card and in the building.
-All the guest who was in the building
Fab 5 Freddie,Victor Cruz, Uriah Hall, Starr, Mz.Gracie @Drect,Poison Pen,Ebro and any others I missed.
-James Roosevelt and everyone @ 100 bars magazine
-The 5 boroughs of NYC
-Every poster on OTBVA.com and all the other Battlerap related forums

-ROAD TO TOTAL SLAUGHTER
Yeah even if the actual show felt like a pilot after just 4 episodes.
I thought it did a good job @ showing the battlerappers in a different light.
For that 1 reason the show was GOOD

-SMOOTH SAILING
This event wasn't the best in terms of actual highlights IMO.
The strongest trait of the event was its presentation.
Despite only 4 battles on the card the event was smooth in terms of time management. Laser shows and No 40 mins between battles is always a GOOD look.

-CLEAN STAGE
Only entourage allowed was Luxs , besides that no 1 was allowed to have a entourage on stage. This is GOOD considering the never ending problem of a cluttered stage in Battlerap.

-ENTER SPAWN
The full body Spawn costume was pretty bad ass IMO.
It added a extra layer of uncertainty to the battle.

-ROUND ONE AND 1 LINERS
Mook vs Luxs 1st was incredible (ESP live)
Both Mook and Luxs had the crowd in their hands
Joe with his 1 liners was entertaining to the point , where u actually thought he could win.

-THE RETURN OF THE DURAG
Murda Mook from the smack days return last night.
It wasn't no 5 star affair but he settles the ongoing issues of the other legend in Harlem by the name Loaded Luxs.

-WILDCARD VICTOR
Props to Hollow who attempted 2 showed the world every aspect of Battlerap.

-PERSONALS>>
Which is by far the most devastating weapon in Battlerap.
Hollow accusation of Joe beating his ex was front and center on Worldstarr the same night.
Even Mook onslaught of personals changed the way many viewed Luxs.
Even Hollow standing up for the ladies was entertaining

-POSITIVE GROUPON EFFECTS
The cheapest tickets I saw for this event was like 90 bucks @ 1st.
I thought about it and decided not to attend.
Then I got word of this groupon thing and saw tickets were 33 bucks.
I quickly dropped every plan I had on 7/12/14

THE BAD

-NEGATIVE GROUPON EFFECTS
(Back to the groupon thing)
Now either 2 things happened here
1-they didn't sell enough tickets to fill up the audience.
2-They lowered the tickets , so Joe's fan base could afford it.
Either way must have sucked to pay 90 bucks , when most of the crowd got a discount.

-DAY FOLLOWING ORDERS
When Day blacked out due to him missing his meds.
He was still on the floor while the judges was deliberating.
Ebro who was judging told Day to get up.
Day finally broke character and got up

-THAT HOUSE CHOKE RATE
The Total Slaughter house Choke rate was somewhere in the 90% bracket.
So it was BAD to see it follow Big T during his battle.

-UNDERWHELMING SLAUGHTER
Tho the event was smooth , it never really felt like a Battlerap event.
It was more similar to a mini concert or a major broadway play type of thing. The 2 main events trailers were better than the actual battles tbh.

-JUDGING BUDDEN
Word is Joe switched the judges due to quote unquote bias tendencies.
This is laughable at best and wouldn't have made a slight difference.
ESP considering the new judges who still choose Hollow.

-THE WIN
Even tho Hollow won , he didn't get the love he should have SMH
Infact when Hollow retreats back in2 the Battlerap realm , this W will be used as a weapon against him

THE UGLY

-OFF THE MEDS
Daylyt didn't get here due to his mental breakdown
(it was predictable but funny tbh)
That Spawn suit didn't deserve to get tore up like that lol.
(Seriously)
Days 3rd round will become as infamous as the nut incident.

-THE BEAST RETURNS
Whenever u have a large enough crowd , u can expect fierce animalistic traits to be present.
The ruff crowds from the past was on full display @ Total Slaughter.
Lots of people were booed
SMH

-THE TALE OF 2 MICS
Hollow wasn't even mic'd up when the 1st round of his battle with Joe started. Budden gave Hollow his hands free mic , while he used Sway typical concert mic. There were a deep distinction in performance areas during the battles.
1 man had to hold a mic , the other was free to perform.

-THE DISCONTINUED 3RD ROUND
Near the end of Joe's 3rd round , he dropped the mic due to the crowd.
It was UGLY as f*** to see somebody who performed in front of large crowds to react this way.
Hollow picked up the fallen mic and started rapping again lol
They cut him off but allowed Joe 2 continue.
By this point the damage was already done.

-REJECTED FAN BASE
As soon as it was announced Hollow had won.
Many people in the crowd began to get angry.
I heard people say Joe bodied hollow and things like "wow they robbed Joe" "how did the judges let this happen".

I died on my way back uptown thinking about these people.................................
