URL/ Snkbst - SOLE SURVIVOR (Crow42 Recap) In Da Building

The afterMATH of SM3 mainly was damage control in the eyes of the fans. 
While SM3 wasn't 2 bad IMO , the truth is the average person paid 4 a full event and got 70% of it . The URL solution was blogs/tweets and sort of a hybrid weird fan appreciation event. The Sole survivor event is a nod to the fans/a sneaker convention. If your the typical sneaker head/Battlerap fan the event is a must.
If not your like me paying 30$ 4 another Battlerap event experiment............

-The lines were there but no where near the mega events

-Tickets were 40$ @ the door

-Security now @ Battlerap events in NYC consist of NYPD style pat downs. 
I guess security are getting smart 
(NOTE 2 all my smokers out there, they may be undercover cops in the crowd)

-The venue was big and literally a warehouse
1st time there and it wasn't 2bad 

-The ongoing saga of sound problems within the URL continues. 
Often times a sound wave would randomly appear in the middle of someone round

-Time limits are now in full effect (well sorta) Funny how it seem the 1st 2 battles got to continue but the last 2 had to be stopped on multiple occasions SMH

-There were intermission after every battle
Lasting from anywhere between 30-40 mins 

-SHOUTS OUTS
-Props 2 the entire URL staff 4 making a effort to entertain the crowd during the intermissions & 4 throwing a smooth event
- The Remy Martin liquor brand 
(who was giving out free samples) Nearly creating a frenzy lol
- All the vendors who attempted to sell their shoes but got few buyers
-Every battlerapper on the card and my dude Sco
-The pizza vendor outside guy who sold me a soda 4 a NYC price of 1$ (instead of the event price)
-The Zulu warriors (who were security but also was really cool tbh)
-All my people I always come across @ these events
(The drunk Brooklyn dude, my dudes from Boston, my people from the BX , the Big boy i always come across outside smoking and my dude J

THE BATTLES

-Big Kannon vs Syah Boy
1st battle of the night was Big Kannon vs Syah Boy
Kannon started off strong and set traps in which Syah fell right in2. 
Kannon destroyed Syah image and no amount of cleaver fat jokes can change perception. Syah gets props 4 stepping it up but Kannon tore him down and laid the ground work 4 a battle with Kshine.

-JJDD vs JC
JJDD starts off rushing JC with a few cleaver angles. He's aware of what people are thinking and what JC is going 2 say. JC returns fire and seem to be getting the best of the exchanges @ times (The battle is def debatable the 1st 2 rounds) JJDD informs the crowd he is sick and his 3rd is a little flat , while JC keeps up the momentum (Great battle overall)

-The Sneaker battle
Can't lie as soon as they started to talk bout this I sorta left 2 get high. 
No disrespect to the sneaker heads (I own bout 5 pairs of foamposities) but I was there 4 battles. Some dude with Jordan's won , can't remember which edition. This is when Smack announces a suprise battle, which turned out to be just a Goodz & Rex promo lol (I know)

-DNA vs Bmagic
Punchline mania 4real
This battle is proof Magic is very real in Battlerap these days
Some people will dismiss him as 1 dimensional but he is quickly claiming his spot as the #1 punchline rapper out. Shouts 2 DNA who returned and grabbed the building and momentum in round 2. The 3rd was much the same , Magic being consistent landing clean punches. DNA responding back with his own in what was a crazy lyrical clash (Hands down the best battle of the night)

MAIN EVENT
-Young ILL vs Charlie Clips
ILL goes up 1st and immediately puts the drug shit 2 rest , he went bonkers that 1st round. ILL reminded the world why he will 4ever be top 5 in STL.
Clips responded well with a few schemes on ILL drug use and some monstrous punch lines (2nd round ILL start to slow down considerably from the 1st)
Clips does not but what he does is let Young ILL actions get in his head. 
Clips stopped rapping near the end of the 2nd to address young ILL bout motioning while he was rapping.
It hurt him cause Clips was decisively taking the 2nd. 
Meanwhile Young ILL 3rd was mostly all crickets , shame 2 cause a few of his bars went over heads(It's just they were not hitting)
Clips crafted a pretty good 3rd round, enough to secure it but Smack fucked up the ending by abruptly cutting Clips off @ the time limit SMH 

(@ that point the crowd erupted screaming "KEEP GOING"
But Smack wasn't letting it rock , 6pm was 5 mins away and the building had to be cleared lol)


Overall the event was a success tbh
Battles with some good content here 


I had a great time and forgot the problems in my life 4 a little while, and 4 what its worth 30$ is a small price 4 that......................
